Prepare to teach the Sciences with a secondary teaching license from USJ

Prepare to teach the Sciences with a secondary teaching license from USJ.

As a USJ Science teacher candidate, you will complete course requirements for teacher preparation in the department of Education while pursuing a major in General Science, Biology, or Chemistry in the School of Health and Natural Sciences.

You will collaborate with advisors in USJ’s Advisement Center, the departments of Biology or Chemistry, and the department of Education to develop an individualized plan of study for teaching sciences.

The teacher licensure program in science is nationally recognized by the National Science Teachers Association and is an approved program by the Connecticut State Department of Education.

Through carefully selected and designed coursework, the department of Biology and the department of Chemistry will prepare you to meet these standards and be successful on the Praxis II General Science, Biology or Chemistry tests, a requirement for student teaching.
