Education
Requirements for the matriculation into the School of Education and the Graduate School and acceptance to the Master of Arts degree program.
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Admission application for the Graduate School sent to the Graduate School Office.
- Two sealed, official transcripts of all undergraduate work and any prior graduate work; submit one to the Graduate School and one to the School of Education.
- Two letters of recommendation addressed to the Dean of the School of Education-including the recommendation letter cover form attesting to the candidate's personal and professional qualifications for graduate work sent to the School of Education. (PDF: 1p., 46K)
- Immunization form sent to Health Services (PDF: 2pp., 220K)
- Letter of intention indicating personal and professional goals.
- A planned program of study developed in consultation by appointment with a faculty advisor and approved by the Dean of the School of Education.
Requirements for exiting the Master of Arts degree program.
- Successful completion of the core area (6 credits) and concentration area (9 credits) with related performance tasks with a grade of B or better. Note that courses used in a teacher license program may not be applied to the concentration area.
- Successful completion of electives with a grade of B of better: 15 credits unless noted. (These may be drawn from the teacher licensure planned program.)
- Successful completion of the comprehensive examination. The exam may be taken at the conclusion of all coursework. Apply by September 30 for the February exam or March 31 for the July exam. Late fees may apply. To apply, please contact your education advisor. The comprehensive exam questions are designed to assess the student's ability to develop, substantiate, and defend educational decisions based on theory, research, and experience.
