Mathematics: Bachelor of Science
Are you interested in a career that will allow you to apply your analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills? If so, consider majoring in Mathematics. You'll receive a solid foundation in all major areas of traditional Mathematics, develop the art of mathematical discovery, and achieve competence in the use of mathematical procedures. You'll explore applications of Mathematics in business, finance, the life sciences, and more. You'll cultivate your powers of logical reasoning, become proficient with modern mathematical technology tools, and develop your ability to communicate mathematical ideas with clarity and coherence.
Small classes give professors the opportunity to know their students well and address individual needs. Many of our courses are taught in computer classrooms equipped with mathematics software, including computer algebra systems, dynamic geometry software, statistical applications, and spreadsheets.
In addition to the classical Mathematics major, we offer a Math major with a concentration in Computer Science and a Math major with a concentration in Economics. These options, as well as a variety of minors that can be combined with the Mathematics major (Information Technology, Accounting, Management, Biology, and more), enhance career opportunities for our graduates. Many of our majors are interested in a career in Education and obtain teacher certification. Our curriculum addresses the needs of future teachers, both in terms of content and pedagogy.
