Chemistry

Chemistry is the study of the structure and reactivity of matter as it relates to the world around us

Chemistry is an excellent foundation for medical, dental, pharmacy, physician assistant or physical therapy schools.

As a Chemistry student, you will study from a varied and intensive curriculum. Our small classes and laboratory sections provide an optimal learning environment in which you will benefit from the knowledge and experience of faculty. Our undergraduate research program is a vital asset for acceptance into graduate and medical schools. We emphasize problem solving, quantitative skills, technology, imagination, and proficiency in written and oral communication.

The baccalaureate Chemistry program is acredited by the American Chemical Society for the professional training of chemists.

Internships in Chemistry

Internships are available at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford Hospital, the State of Connecticut Crime Lab, Ensign-Bickford Industries, Pfizer, and Loctite Corporation, to name a few.

Major plan of study

The Chemistry program requires 37-38 credits of major class work and well as 16 credits of supporting course work, all with a grade of C or better.
