Graduate Dietetic Internship Program

Gain practical experience while you prepare to become a registered dietitian.

USJ’s Department of Nutrition offers a Dietetic Internship (DI), which is a graduate certificate program. This program is open to students with a B.S. in Nutrition who meet the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) requirements.

Upon completion of more than 1,200 hours of supervised practice experience in clinical nutrition, community nutrition and food service management, graduates will receive a verification of completion and are eligible to take the registration examination to become a registered dietitian (R.D.).

The DI program is currently granted continued accreditation status by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

Fall Semester

  • One week orientation
  • Class-day seminars every other week
  • Two weeks extended care
  • 13 week clinical nutrition

Spring Semester

  • 3 days early spring orientation
  • Class-day seminars every other week
  • Four weeks food service management
  • 2 weeks renal nutrition
  • 2 weeks school nutrition
  • 5 weeks community nutrition including WIC
  • 2 weeks enrichment
