Art History

Develop an in-depth understanding, appreciation, and application of the visual arts

As a USJ Art History major, you will study, investigate, and interpret visual images within an historical context from the prehistoric era to the present.

About USJ's art history program:

  • Areas of concentration include American, ancient, early Christian, and modern art.
  • The studio requirement offers the opportunity to develop your own artistic capacity with courses in drawing, painting, watercolor, design, crafts, and printmaking.
  • Study in this discipline moves out of the classroom and into the professional world of art with access to renowned local collections, including USJ's art collections.
  • The intimate classroom atmosphere affords one-to-one instruction.
