Instructor of Dance
Instructor Susan Murphy tells her students to embrace the arts and celebrate dance. “I want students to broaden their horizons,” she says. “I want them to take a piece of the arts with them when they graduate.” Students do not need previous dance experience to take her courses; they just need an open mind and a sense of adventure.
Instructor Murphy has loved dance all of her life, and she studied under the world- renowned Truda Cashman, who started the Hartford Dance Conservatory. “I did my student teaching under her,” she adds, “What a wonderful honor that was.” Instructor Murphy is an advisor to the University of Saint Joseph Dance Ensemble, she is involved in all the productions and assists with the choreography. She also has been instrumental in bringing dance legend Jacques d’Amboise to campus as part of the Multiple Intelligence summer program at the University.
Best of all, Instructor Murphy feels honored to be leaving her imprint on the Dance program at University of Saint Joseph. “I love being part of the community here. It’s warm, nurturing, and invigorating.”
