Commencement is always a defining moment at the University of Saint Joseph, but in May 2022, it took on historic significance. That spring, USJ celebrated the first fully coeducational graduating class at the XL Center in Downtown Hartford, marking a bold new chapter in the University’s legacy.
The move from the West Hartford, Conn. campus to the arena was first made in 2019, and was more than just a change of venue, it was a strategic shift. By combining undergraduate and graduate ceremonies in one location, USJ made it possible for every graduate to invite unlimited family and friends to the celebration.
With improved accessibility, ample parking, enhanced sight-lines, and professional sound, the XL Center has proven to be an ideal stage for honoring USJ’s exceptional graduates — making the experience as memorable as the milestone itself.
