When the Sisters of Mercy founded the University of Saint Joseph in 1932, they had big hopes—for women, for education, and for the future. Their vision? A bold curriculum that blended the arts and sciences with professional studies and a deep commitment to service. Nearly a century later, that pioneering spirit lives on through the Women’s Leadership Center (WLC), an initiative that welcomes all who are seeking support in becoming inspiring and effective leaders.
Launched in 2016, the WLC offers an outlet for leadership development, not just for students, but for professionals across the region. “The center was founded to develop inspiring and effective leaders, on campus and in our region,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Maggie Pinney ’95, a longtime WLC steering committee member. “We have welcomed speakers who share their experiences and expertise; explored high-level concepts and hands-on tactics; and provided important networking opportunities.”
With programming that resonates across career levels and industries, the WLC offers leaders — women and men — with the skills, confidence, and community they need to thrive.
As the WLC has grown, it has become a trusted resource to our alumni and others in the community. What brings them all together is a shared commitment to service, core values, and leading with purpose.
