Conference for Mercy Higher Education
Originally, the Mercy colleges and universities in the United States were led, managed, and staffed primarily by Sisters of Mercy. In 2002, the Sisters of Mercy established the Conference for Mercy Higher Education (CMHE) to reinforce the bonds of Mercy traditions and to strengthen the Catholic identity and Mercy charism at all sponsored colleges and universities well into the future.
The Conference offers mission-related programs; symposia around issues related to Catholic, Mercy higher education; and "Mercy the Principal Path," a mission program for senior leaders and board members. In addition, CMHE has begun a decennial mission peer review process for each of its member institutions; the University of Saint Joseph had its initial site visit in 2019.
