Interfaith Leadership Certificate
As an Interfaith Leader you will help to build bridges across religious differences.
The Certificate of Interfaith Leadership is a multi-disciplinary certificate located within the department of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies that focuses on providing students with the necessary vision, knowledge base and skill set for the development of “interfaith leaders.” The certificate represents an academically rigorous curricular contribution to USJ’s commitment reflected in its core values of Catholic identity, academic excellence, and multiculturalism/diversity.
The requirement of Interfaith Leadership Certificate is 12 credit hours (four courses). There are three required courses – RELS 125 Faith and Theology in Religiously Pluralistic World, RELS 219 Foundation in Interfaith Studies, and INTD 219 Introduction to Interfaith Leadership; and one elective course from the following: PSYC 216 Non-violent Crisis Intervention for Interfaith Leaders, FIAR 209 Cross Cultural Explorations: How Religion Impacts the Visual, MGMT 219 Interfaith Leadership in Business and Society, RELS 258 Religion and Race in the U.S., and RELS 270 Social Justice in the City of Hartford.
