May 2026: Catalog/LCI Mobile App

We will be undergoing a transition to a new library management system. Along with other libraries in the Library Connection, Inc. (LCI) consortium, we are moving to the widely-used and more modern Polaris system. During this time, the catalog and the LCI mobile app will cease to work. You will likely not notice the change unless you use the LCI mobile app or the USJ Library catalog.

The app will be replaced at the App Store and Google Play with a new one that has a similar logo. We will post a notice when this is available.

Dec. 2025: Library Closing for Renovation

The University Library will soon close to begin a major renovation, with an anticipated reopening in January 2027. This exciting development will shape the future of our campus experience. The project will create a more modern, student-centered space featuring upgraded study areas, a new café, and a dedicated Welcome Center.

During the renovation, all library services will remain available at alternate locations across campus. Librarians will be available for consultations in Lynch Hall, via email or virtual meeting. Details on making appointments and hours in the temporary space in Lynch Hall will be available in January. Prior to the start of the spring semester, a list of spaces on campus available for individual and group study will be posted.

Current Relocations

• IT Services → McDonough 109 (permanent)
• Career Services → McGovern 200 (temporary)
• Teaching & Learning Center → Mercy 250 (permanent)

Upcoming Relocations

• The Center for Academic Excellence (tutoring services) will be relocated to Lynch Hall at the end of December.
• Advising Services will be relocated to Lynch Hall at the end of December.
• Library staff will be relocated to vacant offices and conference rooms in Lynch Hall at the end of December.
• The large format printer will be moved to a computer lab in the basement of McDonough Hall.

Library Resources

• Reserve materials will be available in Lynch Hall. Students will be allowed to take the materials out of Lynch during the period they have them signed out.
• Frequently used reference materials, such as a dictionary and style manuals, will be relocated to Lynch Hall during the construction period.
• Interlibrary loan will continue to be available to USJ faculty, students, and staff. Faculty and staff will be encouraged to obtain Council of Connecticut Academic Libraries borrowing cards or public library cards.
• Electronic resources will be available as usual.

Parking

Parking updates related to the renovation will be shared as additional information becomes available.
