Biochemistry, M.S. (Online)

An integrated program combining coursework in the fields of biology and chemistry in an online format

A master of science degree in Biochemistry allows students to increase the depth and scope of their knowledge in Biology and Chemistry. By being proficient in two sciences, they can apply them in different environment not limited to one field. Typical students who pursue the program are those who plan to become Science instructor in community colleges and universities, those who work in the industry for their promotion or to land bigger roles in their field, and also those who wish to pursue doctoral or medical degree in preparation to become expert to their chosen field of specialization. Classes meet online to accommodate the needs and demands of working professionals in the industry and area schools.

The online Master’s Degree in Biochemistry at the University of Saint Joseph caters to working professionals. Because of this, the expected course load each semester is two courses. If you wish to enroll in more than two courses in a given semester, please contact the Chemistry and Biochemistry Graduate Program Director, Dr. Robert Torregrosa, to discuss workload considerations.

Why USJ?

  • The Biochemistry program has had online asynchronous instruction since 2008. As such, we truly have the experience of delivering high quality of flexible online asynchronous instruction to traditional students (new bachelor’s graduates), working (industry and academe) students, and adult learners.
  • All of our students who completed the program were successful in their work promotion or gain employment.
  • Our programs offer both thesis and non-thesis options. The non-thesis option is more popular for students who want to complete the program in the comfort of their home or workplace that provides flexibility in completing activities. The thesis option is attractive for students who are already working in a laboratory setting (government, private firm, public lab).
