The University of Saint Joseph offers a dual degree program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Health Science or Exercise Science, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
Students who qualify for this program are able to earn their bachelor’s degree at the University of Saint Joseph and then move to the doctorate in physical therapy program at the University of Hartford.
Students complete their prerequisite courses for the DPT program while completing their bachelor’s degree and then apply to the University of Hartford for the DPT program where there are six admissions vacancies for qualified USJ students.
Biology Outcomes
- Communicate scientific and health-related information effectively through clear, professional writing and oral presentation skills appropriate for academic and clinical contexts.
- Demonstrate proficiency in laboratory, field, and/or computational skills commonly used in the biological sciences, including the collection, interpretation, and analysis of scientific data relevant to human health.
- Demonstrate a command of key biological concepts, including evolution, biological systems, biodiversity, and structure-function relationships, with application to human biology and health professions.
- Integrate foundational biological knowledge and scientific skills to support successful progression into doctoral-level physical therapy education.
