World Languages

Become a World Language teacher with our Secondary Teacher Licensure program

As a USJ World Language teacher candidate, you will complete the course requirements for teacher preparation in the department of Education while pursuing a major in Spanish in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

You will collaborate with an advisor in USJ’s Advisement Center, the department of Languages, and the department of Education to develop an individualized plan of study for teaching Spanish.

The Teacher Licensure program in Spanish is nationally recognized by the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages and is an approved program by the Connecticut State Department of Education.

Through carefully designed coursework, the department of Languages will prepare you to meet these standards and be successful on the ACTFL exams, a requirement for student teaching.
