Special Education Teacher Licensure

Earn credentials that will pave the way to a fulfilling career in Special Education

USJ’s Special Education major delivers exceptional value. You will graduate with a distinctive major while simultaneously earning comprehensive K-12 Special Education Teacher Licensure and a cross endorsement in Elementary Teacher Licensure. That’s three credentials, all wrapped up in one extraordinary major.

From the start of the program, your faculty will connect you to the real world of schools. Clinical experiences are a key feature that sets USJ’s Special Education programs apart. These hands-on experiences include:

  • Participation in a series of walk-throughs, along with analysis of classroom environments and observation of data team meetings at work (sophomore year)
  • The opportunity to conduct academic evaluations and provide instruction at two additional schools, one public and one private (junior year)
  • Administration of comprehensive literacy assessments of children with Down syndrome (senior year)

Clinicals are accomplished under the close supervision and mentorship of faculty committed to preparing future Special Educators who make a difference.
