  • According to the United States Department of Labor Statistics, the need for software developers is expected to increase by 253,000 jobs over the next decade, and growing evidence suggests the supply is not keeping pace with the demand.
  • In a recent letter to the President of the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC), the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development stated that in 2016 there were 7,000 open computing jobs in Connecticut, and only 520 computer science graduates from Connecticut colleges each year.
  • According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for those employed in computer occupations in 2016 was $82,000, as compared with $37,000 for all occupations.
  • Earlier this year, ranked the median base salary of workers in their first five years of employment by undergraduate major -- with Computer Science topping the list at $70,000.
