Distinguished Alumni Awards
Since 1974, the USJ Alumni Association has presented the Distinguished Alumni Awards annually to outstanding alumni and University community members.
The Distinguished Alumni Award Committee embraces the following definition of the term Distinguished Alumni: Individuals who, because of superior and extraordinary achievements, have brought credit to themselves and to the University of Saint Joseph.

Professional Distinction & Outstanding Service to the Community
The Sister Mary Rosa McDonough Award
Awarded to an alumna/us with a bachelor’s or advanced degree who has achieved distinction in their professional field or has provided outstanding service to the University or their local community.
Recent Alumni – Community Leadership & Service
The Catherine McAuley Award
Awarded to an alumna/us with a bachelor’s or advanced degree who graduated no more than 15 years ago and has demonstrated leadership and service to the community.
Field of Education (2 awards)
The Sister Mary DeLourdes Kenny Award
Awarded to an alumna/us with a bachelor’s or advanced degree and has achieved distinctions in the field of education.
The Sister Fay O’Brien Education Award
The Sister Fay O’Brien Education Award is given to a graduate in the discipline of education and who has promoted the growth of the whole person in an inclusive environment, encouraging strong ethical values, personal integrity, and a sense of responsibility to the needs of society.
Artistic Expression
The Sister Maria Ancilla Sullivan Award
Awarded to an alumna/us with a bachelor’s or advanced degree and has achieved distinction through some form of artistic expression
Field of Science or Technology
The Sister Mary Consuela Mulcahy Award
Awarded to an alumna/us with a bachelor’s or advanced degree and has achieved distinction in the field of science or technology.
Field of Health Science
The Nightingale Health Science Award
Awarded to an alumna/us in the fields of nursing, pharmacy, nutrition, and dietetics or gerontology who have demonstrated leadership in the field of health science.
Business and Entrepreneurial
The Business and Entrepreneurial Award
Awarded to an alumna/us with a talent for seeing opportunities and developing those into successful businesses or organizations. This individual has demonstrated the ability to cultivate a positive and successful image.
Service & Core Values to the University
Winifred E. Coleman Service Award
Awarded to an individual or organization that demonstrates exemplary service and commitment to the University of Saint Joseph and represents the University’s Core Values
Philanthropic Support
The Pamela Trotman Reid Service Award
Awarded to an individual who has exemplary commitment, service and philanthropic support to University of Saint Joseph. This award recognizes an alumna/us or friend who has transformed the University through financial support.
