Campus Sculpture Tour

Sculptures on the USJ campus

The Art Museum at University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT welcomes you to take a tour of the sculpture on the University’s Olmsted Brothers-designed campus. Most of the works are part of an outdoor sculpture project that has brought works by contemporary artists to the campus on long-term loan. All the featured sculptors have deep ties to Connecticut and are well known figures in New England and beyond. The sculptures have been chosen by the participating artists with guest curator Joan Hurwit, who previously organized sculpture installations at Hartford’s Bushnell Plaza and the Connecticut Governor’s Residence.

In addition, the tour includes several sculptures that belong to the permanent collection of the Art Museum at University of Saint Joseph as well as a new environmental piece commissioned in conjunction with USJ’s Embracing Our Environment programming and 2023 Earth Day events. We anticipate that additional sculptures will be added to campus periodically.
