Prior to joining USJ, Dr. Plath was an Assistant Professor of Counseling at Caldwell University and a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Baruch College. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. His professional background is rooted in clinical mental health, with a focus on working with court mandated domestic violence perpetrators to end the cycle of violence.

Research Interests

As a researcher, his major research interest is counselor/student self-care and wellness. Specifically, how counselors in training can engage in specific, task-oriented methods of self-care. Dr. Plath’s additional research interest includes creative pedagogy, such as the use of music as an educational tool for counselors.
