Tony Johnston is Associate Professor of the Secondary Education undergraduate (certification w/ major in subject area) and graduate (M.A.T.) programs. He completed his Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Culture at the University of California, Berkeley. His work focuses on adolescent literacy and supporting youth of color in schools. He is co-author (with Ronald Beach and Amanda Thein) of Identity Focused ELA Instruction: A Curriculum Framework for Diverse Learners and Contexts (Routledge, 2015).
