Publications

Derek Dube has published numerous scientific articles in journals such as the Journal of Virology, Genome Biology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), and others. He has published education-based research articles in journals including The American Biology Teacher, Simulation & Gaming, To Improve the Academy, and more. Additionally, Derek co-authored the book “What Inclusive Instructors Do: Principles and Practices for Excellence in College Teaching” through Stylus Publishing. He has spoken nationally at many venues about his scholarship in science and education, and won the 2022 Reverend John J. Stack Teaching Excellence Award.

Research

His scientific research focuses on the “hidden” microbiology of the local environment, as well as understanding mechanisms of viral infection. Additionally, his education-based research focuses on improving equity, inclusion, and efficacy in higher education teaching.
