Jamie Danielle Daniels, Ph.D., LICSW, MSW, is an Assistant Professor of Social Work. She earned her Ph.D. and MSW from Smith College, and her B.A. from Holyoke College. She is a former board member and current member of DIV 39 of the American Psychological Association, a Member of the National Association of Social Workers and a 2024-2025 fellow of the American Psychoanalytic Association. Prior to USJ, she was an adjunct faculty member at Smith College and is a psychotherapist at a private practice.

Her broad research agenda focuses on the mental health and well-being of Black women. Her current project explores the historical and contemporary experiences of Black women in the Labor Movement. She examines how their intersectional identities—as workers, activists, and women—affect their psychological well-being, with a particular focus on how unionization serves as a protective factor for their mental health by offering support, solidarity, economy security, and empowerment. She is interested in understanding how social determinants such as race, class, and environment shape mental health and how collective power-building can be leveraged as a transformative strategy for healing and resilience.
