Randa Elbih, Assistant Professor, completed her Ph.D. in Educational Thought and Sociocultural Studies at the University of New Mexico. She is on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Council of the Social Studies. Her work focuses on various courses in teacher preparation, specifically Social Studies Education, STEAM Integration, and Curriculum and Instruction. She utilizes inquiry, pedagogical strategies, and experiential learning to prepare pre-service teachers in developing equitable curriculum and instruction to support the teaching and empowerment of marginalized K-12 students, including American Muslim youth, and promote democratic citizenship. She is the book’s author of Dialectics of 9/11 and the War on Terror: Educational Responses (Peter Lang, 2018) and has published in the Social Studies and Educational Studies Journals. In her book, She coined Critical Dialectical Pedagogy (CDP) that expands on Paulo Freire’s work to introduce a practical approach to teaching current events holistically. She has published in the Social Studies and Educational Studies Journals.
