Prior to joining USJ, Dr. Wise served for eight years as a core faculty member in the CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program in the Department of Psychological Sciences and Counseling at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Research Focus
Dr. Wise’s doctoral research centered on the phenomenological experiences of men in counselor training programs. They continue scholarship on men and mental health as well as LGBTQ+ identity development, career development, and grief, loss, and life transitions. Dr. Wise frequently presents at national, state, regional, and local conferences in these same areas. Dr. Wise welcomes student collaborators in producing scholarly work (conference presentations and major/minor publications), and engagement in professional development opportunities.
