On November 9, 2021, Brian J. Mylod, Joseph Spalluto, and John Duffy presented University of Saint Joseph President Rhona Free with a check for $500,000 to establish the Bruyette Facilities Fund, which will support improvements and upkeep of the Bruyette Athenaeum and the Bruyette Natatorium on the USJ campus. Mylod is a volunteer in USJ’s Athletic and Advancement offices and Spalluto is a long-time Trustee; all three worked for the financial services firm Keefe, Bruyette & Woods.

Mylod, Spalluto, and Duffy spearheaded a fundraising effort to honor Kathleen Barry Bruyette and her late husband, Gene Bruyette, leading donors to the University. Mylod said of the project, “Gene Bruyette was a founder of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, and many current and past members of that firm credit Gene and Kathy with their professional success. We were looking for a way to say thank you for all they have done. Because philanthropy and the University of Saint Joseph have been priorities in their lives, we chose to make a contribution in celebration of their generosity.”

Three generations of the Bruyette family, Trustees, friends, and donors gathered on campus for the presentation and a celebratory luncheon.
