On Thursday, September 2, 2021, USJ presented “College Night” at the Yard Goats game at Dunkin Donuts Stadium in Hartford. Attendees were encouraged to wear their college gear, and there was a lot of USJ blue and gold on hand – 90 current students from USJ were in attendance, along with Trustees, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends of USJ. The highlight of the evening was when President Rhona Free, with some last-minute coaching from Joey the Blue Jay, threw out the ceremonial first pitch to the cheers of the crowd. The night included giveaways, pictures with Joey, and the showing of an informational USJ video which provided a look at all that the University has to offer.
USJ’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Maggie Pinney, summed up the night by saying, “We were thrilled to have such an enthusiastic group of students, alumni, Trustees, faculty, and staff join us for USJ Night at the Yard Goats. It was the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together to celebrate the beginning of the school year. From President Free’s first pitch to the inspiring USJ video played on the center-field scoreboard, it was a great night to be a Blue Jay!”
