Anisha Gupta, assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy and Physician Assistant Studies, has been named the 2026 recipient of the American Association of Indian Scientists in Cancer Research (AAISCR) Tripti R. Ghosh Memorial Award for Women Scientists in Cancer Research.
The national award recognizes scientific achievement, perseverance, and contributions to cancer research at smaller academic institutions. The reward is also a nod to Gupta’s growing cancer research program at USJ.
In 2022, Gupta received the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy New Investigator Award for her project, “Next Generation Oncogenic MicroRNAs Inhibitors for Cancer Therapeutics.” That award helped support her independent research program focused on nucleic acid-based approaches to cancer therapy.
Gupta’s research combines medicinal chemistry, nucleic acid science, molecular biology, and drug-delivery strategies to explore new ways to target cancer-associated genes and microRNAs. More recently, her scholarship has expanded into multiple myeloma and emerging cancer therapeutics.
This award is especially meaningful because it recognizes the journey of building a cancer research program. I am grateful to my mentors, collaborators, colleagues, and especially my students, whose enthusiasm and contributions have helped this work continue to grow.
