In keeping with tradition, USJ held its annual Investiture event outdoors on the lawn of McDonough Hall on Oct. 25, 2020.

Juniors celebrated alongside USJ President, Rhona Free (pictured in the bottom, right image above), and posed for photos with family members to commemorate the occasion.

Investiture commemorates the junior class for their advanced academic achievements thus far at USJ by dressing the students in the scholar’s garb for the first time. Juniors process to the Chapel in academic gowns and receive their caps from USJ faculty members. This tradition was first celebrated in 1934 in a ceremony that also celebrated the Feast of Presentation. Of course, the ceremony has changed over the years, however, the intent remains the same: Investiture provides an opportunity for the University community to recognize the academic advancement of the junior class and to ask for God’s continued blessing.

Due to COVID-19, the ceremony could not take place in Connor Chapel, however, please enjoy this year’s virtual celebration below!
