University of Saint Joseph community mourns the loss of Sister Fay O’Brien

The University of Saint Joseph community mourns the loss of Sister Fay O’Brien, who passed away on Saturday, August 17. Sister Fay devoted many years to the University. She was director of (and later, consultant to) the School for Young Children, a faculty member in Education for more than 30 years, and she served on a number of University committees. She received the Winifred E. Coleman Service Award in 2009, and the Sister Fay O’Brien Education Award (awarded to a graduate who majored in the discipline of Education and who has promoted the growth of the whole person in an inclusive environment, encouraging strong ethical values, personal integrity, and a sense of responsibility to the needs of society) was created in her honor in 2011. She was elected a Trustee Emerita in 2013, after serving as a Trustee from 2008 – 2013.
