Social Work at USJ
071 Certification
- SOCW 674: Social Work Practice in Schools allows social workers to fulfill the certification requirement while maintaining full time employment
- Fully-online, accelerated (6-7 weeks) course, during the academic year and summer
- The only certification program in Connecticut taught by both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a 071-certified school social work educator, an intentional pairing that blends clinical depth with practical, school-based expertise

Curriculum
Students examine federal and state education law, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and its 14 disability categories, while developing trauma-informed, culturally responsive strategies for assessment, collaboration, and family engagement.
