Mocksfield Earns First GNAC Weekly Nod In MLAX History

Freshman midfielder Noah Mocksfield (Colchester, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men’s lacrosse team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, announced Monday, March 2, by conference officials. It marks the first time in program history that men’s lacrosse has received a weekly GNAC honor.

Mocksfield set the bar for the Blue Jays, scoring a record nine, yes, nine goals in just the second game in program history, a 14-6 rout of Becker College on February 29. He also had two assists in that game, for a total of 11 points. His most impressive goal completely swung the momentum in USJ’s favor, a man-down goal to give the home team a 7-5 lead. USJ outscored Becker 7-1 in the final period, four goals coming from Mocksfield. He had back-to-back goals three different times in the game, and nearly outshot the entire Becker team, 25-24.

The Blue Jays had a solid opening week of action all around, finishing 1-1. Mocksfield leads the GNAC already with the 10 goals and 12 points. No other player in the conference has hit double-digit goals.
