The Senior Center offers a variety of services and programs to our area’s senior population. From computer and aerobic classes to counseling services and food programs, the Bristol Senior Center has something for everyone!

ConnectiKids Inc. is a nonprofit positive youth development organization that focuses on educating, enriching, and empowering Hartford’s youth. We work directly with three elementary schools, West Middle Community School, Dr. James H. Naylor School, and Michael D. Fox Elementary School, with students in kindergarten to fifth grade. We work with one middle school, Martin Luther Jr. Middle School, to serve students in sixth to eighth grade. We provide one-on-one or small group tutoring, mentoring, arts, book club, and enrichment throughout the academic year and summer program during summer break. With these programs, we expose our students to new people, places, and experiences that aid in positive growth and development.

The Department of Social and Youth Services is an advocate for individuals, children, and families. We promote the well-being, self-sufficiency, and quality of life for residents of Bloomfield by providing help and referral services for those facing a variety of problems.

The Center for Children’s Advocacy (CCA) was founded in 1997 by long-time civil rights attorney Martha Stone. Attorney Stone wanted to create a nonprofit law firm that specialized in children’s legal issues, and envisioned an organization that would bring legal resources from the law office to community sites easily accessible by children and youth; be a one-stop shop providing holistic legal services to meet all of a child’s legal needs, including education, abuse and neglect, and access to health care; depend on very little state money, enabling zealous legal advocacy for child clients even in cases involving the state; have an interdisciplinary focus, partnering with medical and education professionals to bring expertise from those fields to children’s cases.

Our trained reading mentors work in local public schools with at-risk students one-on-one or in small groups to improve comprehension, advance reading fluency, build confidence, and promote a love and interest in reading. Each volunteer commits to working with the same child throughout the school year on a weekly basis.

The iQuilt Partnership exists to promote cultural vitality and a robust public domain in the city of Hartford, and throughout the Hartford region. Over the last 12 years, iQuilt has developed connections among hundreds of community groups, corporations, and individuals, developing a reputation for high-impact community engagement efforts that have delivered projects promoting walking, culture and innovation. These projects support collaborative community visions that promote sustainability, prosperity, equity, mobility and vibrancy.

United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut’s mission is to engage and bring together people and resources committed to the well-being of children and families in our community.

Together with Saint Francis Hospital, other committed community leaders, and with crucial financial support from then-Archbishop Henry Mansell and the Archdiocese of Hartford, the group determined that a mobile clinic was the correct model for Hartford; this way, critically needed primary health care would be delivered right into the neighborhoods where it was needed most, on a van that would be parked at trusted, safe sites close to the patients’ homes and jobs.

The School serves children and families in West Hartford and other neighboring communities. The School also functions as an exemplary demonstration teaching model for University of Saint Joseph students and other early childhood educators. Since 1985, The School has been accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
