Our Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) team is here to listen, support, and guide you through whatever you’re going through.
We’re proud to partner with Hartford HealthCare to bring you a wide range of resources, right here on campus and through convenient, confidential telehealth options.
What We Offer
At CAPS, we provide a variety of services to meet your mental health needs, including:
- Diagnostic Evaluations to better understand your unique situation
- Individual Counseling Appointments available both in-person and via telehealth for your convenience
- Same-Day Consultations, whether in-person or through telehealth, for more immediate support
- Group Therapy sessions where you can connect with others facing similar challenges
- Couples Therapy Appointments to help you and your partner work through relationship concerns
- Psychiatric Consultation and Medication Management Follow-Up Visits through telehealth with Hartford HealthCare providers (these services are billed through insurance)
- Referrals and Connection to Community Resources when you need additional or longer-term care beyond CAPS

Support for the Whole Campus
Your mental health matters not just to you but to all of us here at USJ. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to refer peers who might benefit from counseling. CAPS also offers workshops, training, and consultations to help our entire community understand and support mental wellness.
Sexual Misconduct
For your rights and what you need to know to obtain information, support, and assistance options for sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, intimate partner violence and stalking visit USJ Title IX.
