Incoming (New) Students: Incoming student housing assignments will be completed in July. A notification of your housing assignment will be sent in mid-July to your USJ email.
All On-Campus Residential Students: Move in time slots will be sent to your USJ email by mid-August. We cannot accommodate early arrivals if not approved. Please email [email protected] if you need to request an alternate time slot. Note that this is not guaranteed and time slots are not offered earlier or later than move in is scheduled for.
To Do Before Move In
- Submit Health Forms to Student Health Services
- Submit ID photo for JayCard
- Purchase Parking Permit
- Pack up all your essentials
- Ensure you are registered full time for the fall semester and have no Bursar or Student & Campus Life holds.
- You will receive an email if you have a hold.
- Any student with a hold will not be permitted to collect an ID Card or room key until Residential Life has confirmed clearance for move in. Students who are not in compliance with the move in requirements will not be provided alternative or temporary housing.
Arriving to Campus
Please do not arrive significantly earlier than your designated move in time. Assigned time slots are essential for managing campus and local traffic.
- Students will enter campus at the West Gate (closest to the Chapel/Trout Brook Drive) and will be directed to the J/K parking lot.
- Upon entering the parking lot, students will be directed to one of two lines leading to the check in tent. Students will wait to be assisted by a Residential Life staff member in their car.
- Do NOT park your car or exit your vehicle. This will disrupt the line and may result in being blocked in.
- Once in line, a staff member will approach the vehicle to check the student in. If the student is cleared for move in, staff will issue the room key, and ID card/parking pass (if applicable).
- Once checked in, students will follow the signage and staff direction to proceed to the parking lot where their residence hall unloading zone is. Once a student is in their unloading zone, they will be directed to line up and wait to be assisted by a Residential Life staff member. Do NOT park your car or exit your vehicle.
- Once Residential Life staff members confirm a student can begin to unload their vehicle, Move In Crew volunteers will help to unload the car and bring belongings to the student’s room. To make move in as smooth as possible, please have items labeled with the student’s name and room number.
- Once all items have been unloaded from the vehicle, the student will be directed to a designated lot to park the vehicle (A, C, E, F and O Lot as well as the back of the K Lot).
- Students may NOT park in the X, L, M Lot or the Front portion of the K Lot.
- CARS LEFT AT UNLOADING ZONES UNATTENDED FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OR THAT ARE ILLEGALLY PARKED ARE SUBJECT TO TICKETING/TOWING.
Other Information
- Students moving in mid-semester will work with Residential Life to coordinate their move in by appointment.
- Spring Semester Move In will take place on Sunday, January 10. Students will receive communication from Residential Life in December regarding move in procedures. Students are expected to check in with Residential Life staff at McGovern Hall upon arriving to campus to confirm they have returned for the spring semester. Students with holds are unable to move in until holds have been resolved.
