There are more than 20 student organizations on campus, each led by students with guidance by a faculty or staff advisor.

Focused on academics, social and global concerns, diversity and cultural issues, community service and more, these clubs are created to enrich your academic and co-curricular interests.

Current Student Clubs

Accounting and Business Society

The society is a club in which business students can meet and participate in activities. The club sponsors on-campus presentations and is involved in community service activities.

Agricultural and Environmental Economics Club

The Agricultural and Environmental Economics Club exists to enhance the professional development of agricultural and environmental economics students by hosting programs with agricultural and environmental businesses in attendance.

Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honors Society (Tribeta)

A local chapter of the society for students dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research.

Black Student Union (B.S.U.)

Open to all students, the purpose of this organization is to create awareness and develop Afro-American consciousness, and promote the black community at USJ.

Cheerleading

As the face of what it means to belong to Blue Jay Nation, USJ’s cheer team supports and promotes the Blue Jays and all student athletes along with competing at an intercollegiate level.

Chemistry Honors Society (Gamma Sigma Epsilon (ΓΣΕ)

Gamma Sigma Epsilon (ΓΣΕ) is a national chemistry honor society which aims to foster a more comprehensive and cooperative study of that great branch of Science and its immediately allied studies. GSE is governed by an Executive Council of elected national officers and chapters are guided by their own locally elected officers. Any student pursing Chemistry in an institution of higher learning is eligible for member­ship, provided the student’s progress in chemistry meets a high standard set by the local chapter and approved by the National Executive Council. 

Commuter Association

The Commuter Commission seeks to enrich, engage and support our commuter student population by offering innovative programming, advocating on behalf of commuter specific concerns, acting as a connective support network, and enhancing resources available to commuter students. The Commuter Commission is always looking for brand new ways to support our commuter students.

Dance Ensemble

USJ’s Dance Ensemble is a student run dance team which performs at men’s and women’s basketball games, several on and off campus events, and a few dance competitions throughout the year. 

Hispanic Student Union (HSU)

The Hispanic Student Union unites to raise Hispanic awareness on campus to try to find solutions to the needs and problems of our Hispanic students. HSU is committed to the preservation of the Hispanic cultural heritage by devoting ourselves to the enhancement and creation of relevant classes, programs and events which will stimulate our identity and cultural roots. Membership is open to all students, both those who identify as Hispanic and those who do not.

Muslim Student Association (MSA)

The Muslim Student Association is an organization for Muslims and Non-Muslim students alike at USJ. The MSA is a diverse group consisting of people of different origins, nationalities, and culture. The MSA serves the needs of students by providing an atmosphere in which all students of different cultures and backgrounds are accepted. The MSA at USJ is dedicated to maintaining the culture, heritage, and practices of Islam and Muslims, as well as combating common stereotypes and misunderstandings about Islam and Muslims. This organization is a means by which Muslim students maintain and increase their faith in a college environment as well as a tool by which non-Muslims on campus learn about Islam. The purpose of the MSA is to provide an environment for the development and networking of Muslims on campus while fostering a sense of community between Muslims and non-Muslims through education, dialogue and interaction. The MSA gives a voice for the Muslims on this campus to express and break misconceptions by teaching the true meaning of Islam which is peace.

Pre-Health Professions Club

The Pre-Health Professions Club exists to provide its members with the skills and opportunities to enhance their academic, networking and clinical skills in pursuit of a health-related profession. If you are interested in any pre-health profession and you love helping others through service and leadership you are encouraged to join.

Pre-Pharmacy Club

Our mission is to expose our members to all aspects of pharmacy as a career, to equip our club members with the tools and knowledge necessary to be admitted to a pharmacy school, and to build lasting relationships that will provide for a mutually uplifting experience. We welcome students from all backgrounds who are interested in learning about a health profession that is rewarding and challenging.

Public Health Society

The Public Health Society is a student organization that strives to bring together students of Public Health through academic/professional support, educational programming, and community service. We not only strive to create a networking space for our students but also to raise awareness to current issues surrounding Public Health. Anyone who is a public health major, minor, or just interested in the field is encouraged to join!

Queenes Companye

Brings together organization members and the surrounding community through the appreciation of theater. Open to all interested students. The group rehearses regularly and puts on several shows throughout the academic year.

Residence Hall Council (RHC)

The Residence Hall Council is committed to providing a positive, approachable and effective forum for all students living on-campus at USJ. The Residence Hall Council strives to be the aware and involved voice of the residential community and seeks to develop a broader intellectual, social, and cultural on-campus environment. Each Residence Hall identifies representatives to serve as the voice of the buildings and collectively the members work towards the enhancement of the residential experience on campus at USJ.

Saint Joseph Activities Council

Through campus wide programs for the entire student body, SJAC is committed to providing a plethora of diverse recreational, social, cultural, and educational activities and events that reflect the varied interests of USJ students and the community at large. SJAC’s activities calendar aims to support, complement, and further the mission of the institution. Membership is open to all interested students.

Sexuality and Gender Acceptance (SAGA)

SAGA is an organization dedicated to creating a safe place for students to meet, support each other, talk about issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity, and work to end homophobia in and around our community. The members of SAGA aim to give people a comfortable space to be themselves with the goal being to spread love and acceptance throughout and across the campus.

Social Work Alliance (SWA)

The mission of the Social Work Alliance is to make connections among students and professors within the social work program, as well as serve the USJ and Greater West Hartford and Hartford community. Members are encouraged to practice self-care, as well as to become involved in all club workshops, meetings, and networking events.

Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.)

SAAC serves as the sounding board for the student athletes on campus. SAAC allows student athletes to voice any concerns or suggestions that may help enhance the student athlete college experience, as well as contribute to the USJ community. All students involved in athletics are encouraged to join.

Student Government Association (S.G.A.)

The Student Government Association, or SGA, is the representative body for all undergraduate students at the University of Saint Joseph. SGA works to ensure that the needs of the student body are being met on campus. It acts as the liaison for all students with faculty, administration, and trustees of the University. All undergraduate students are invited and encouraged to get involved with the SGA on campus.

Student Nurses Association (S.N.A.)

The Student Nurses Association is a student organization at USJ for nursing students, pre-nursing students, and for anyone interested in the nursing profession. This organization provides information regarding the nursing profession, careers and new developments in the field and sponsors a variety of programs within the community related to the field of nursing.

Track and Field Club

The Track and Field Club seeks to enhance the athletic abilities of undergraduate students through on campus training and intercollegiate competition – all event disciplines are welcome. Our team offers roster spots for both competitive and non-competitive members.

USJ Nutrition Club

The Nutrition Club aims to guide students on campus into creating healthier lifestyles through both nutrition and education.

Working on Wellness (WOW)

Working on Wellness (WOW) mission is to enhance the healthy development of the mind, body and spirit of the campus community through health and wellness education. WOW is an educational and outreach program that trains student leaders to educate fellow students about physical and mental health and wellness through educational programming and other outreach activities on a variety of health related topics. WOW will provide an effective peer network to encourage, support and promote healthy living in all students to assist them in making a healthier, safer and more enjoyable campus.
