“Katherine has risen to the challenge of not only brushing up on her adult nutrition assessment skills, but immersing herself at her clinical site, working alongside the inpatient Registered Dietitians she would be precepting with, to learn the policies and master the clinical nutrition procedures of the hospital,” said Michelle MacKenzie.

In addition to her work at USJ, Bontempo is a Clinical Pediatric Registered Dietitian at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and has established her own pediatric nutrition private practice. She serves as chair of the Kids Eat Right campaign of the Connecticut Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Being recognized as the CTAND Young Dietitian of the Year is such an honor. As an educator, I have the privilege of mentoring aspiring dietitians and supporting their growth as nutrition professionals. This award reflects the passion I have for helping children build a peaceful relationship with food and their bodies.
